About Carol Iglesias
Carol’s influence comes from the great impressionists. Painting with a bold use of color has been a passion for her entire life. “I respond very emotionally to color and see colors differently than most people. I seek out vibrancy in my subject matter, in landscapes, buildings, boats or reflections on the water. I look at how light affects the color and the atmosphere and how this changes minute by minute while I am outside painting. I push color beyond what is in front of me and my emotional response is in each painting that I create.”
Over the past twenty-five years, her joy for plein air painting has strengthened. Working outside allows Carol to study the constantly changing subtleties of color and light which then provides valuable insight and sensitivity when painting in her studio. The beauty of the low country is an inspiration.
While plein air painting inspires many of her pieces, the inspiration continues in the studio. Carol’s experience and memories from working outside are alive in each one of her paintings, whether created on location or in the studio.
